Free Walking Tours Sapa is a small team of local guides who show visitors the town, the rice terraces and the surrounding ethnic minority villages on foot. The tours are tip-based, run in small groups and built around real conversations rather than a script.
Who we are
We are a group of guides who grew up in and around Sapa, including members of the H'mong and Dao communities whose villages the trails pass through. Guiding is how we share the place we call home — the seasons in the fields, the family kitchens, the markets, and the quiet paths most coach tours never reach.
What we do
We run small-group walking tours from the centre of Sapa town out through rice terraces, gardens and minority villages such as Cat Cat, Ma Tra and Ta Phin. Routes follow real footpaths rather than the road, with breaks for viewpoints, a stop at a local family home, and time to ask questions along the way.
Why a free walking tour
Keeping the tour free at the point of joining means travellers can decide what the experience was worth to them at the end, based on the guide and the day they had. It also makes Sapa easier to explore for backpackers and families on a tight budget, while still supporting the guides directly through tips.

Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy, bring water and a light layer, and arrive a few minutes early so the group can leave on time.
